Bio & Media

Julian Petrin is a composer, musician and urbanist from Hamburg. Raised on jazz and electronic music, trained on classical piano, he is fallen for cinematic and melodic instrumentals.

Sometimes it takes time until the right moment has come to open up to the audience. In more than three decades the German-Italian artist and composer Julian Petrin has created a collection of musical themes, which is now being published piece by piece.

Julian Petrin's music is instrumental pop at it’s best. He builds bridges between neo-classical music, film scores and contemporary electronica.

Throughout his life, Julian Petrin has oscillated between urbanism, where he is researching and working since more than 25 years, and music.

Being raised with Jazz and Bossa Nova, he has been trained in classical and Jazz piano. After founding his first Synth-Pop band in Düsseldorf in the 1980s, he moved to Munich in the early 1990s, where he wrote electronic stage music for independent theatre groups. A large part of his tracks were written in his present home town of Hamburg from 1993 onwards, with individual releases, e.g. in Raphael Marionneau's "Café Abstrait" series.

Over the past thirty years, a large catalogue of electronic instrumental pop has been created that reflects the decades from the dawn of synth-pop to today's diverse ramifications of electronic instrumental music - and which is now being remixed and published step by step.
